Agents, the threat of Dark XM is upon us and we need you to help neutralize its power. Starting at 10AM PDT (UTC -7) April 25th, Dark XM will appear in the Scanner. We also predict the Portal decay rate will be affected. To combat the impact of this force you will need to create links. We will be measuring the cumulative length of the links you create. A Scanner medal based on the total distance of the links you create during this event will be awarded if the Dark XM threat is stopped. The medal will have three tiers to it of 5km, 50km, and 250km. A new Scanner statistic will be enabled shortly to track your progress. These links will protect you against the Dark XM threat. To stop the threat and receive the medal you’ll have to work together. Relative to the current baseline, 400,000 additional portals must be captured; both factions will contribute to this goal. In addition, achieving this feat will increase the bonus AP during the June First Saturday to 3x AP. Agents can work on both capturing Portals and making links simultaneously once the event begins. If too many neutral Portals remain on April 30th, 10AM PDT (UTC -7), the Dark XM will seep into the universe more permanently. You have until then to complete your mission. We will provide twice daily updates on the progress of capturing neutral Portals. Good luck.
